About
As the bumbling, socially inept regional manager of the Scranton
branch at the paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin, Michael Scott (played to perfection by Steve Carell)
takes it upon himself to find endless new ways to entertain his employees: 'I’m like Bette Midler in
For the Boys. Gotta keep the troops entertained.'
While his ridiculous antics usually fall short of succeeding and his ignorant behavior constantly lands him in hot water, Michael still somehow manages to come off as rather sympathetic, as evidenced in episodes such as "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" and "Halloween". What's interesting about Michael's blundering actions is that they stem from an overeager naïvety rather than from malicious intent.
For those familiar with the show, Michael is known for blurting out inappropriate thoughts, mangling pop culture references, and mispronouncing words. In fact, 95% of the time, one or more of those three things can be heard coming out of his mouth whenever he opens it to speak.
